Our Funds at Work: ERC Eco Camp

In September, the Papoose Club supported the Environmental Resource Center’s (ERC) Eco Camp.  The five-day-long backpacking program was recently held in the Pioneer Mountains with students from The Space in Hailey. The ERC has been running EcoCamp programs for elementary and middle school students for over 20 years. The ERC has joined forces with Sun Valley Huts to provide more outdoor access to students in the valley. Campers got the opportunity to stay in the Pioneer Hut for two nights and backpacked into the Big Basin area of the Pioneers. Campers swam in alpine lakes, learned map-reading skills, used a backcountry sauna, and practiced their elk calls. Campers ended the trip with a sense of accomplishment and some new experiences in the outdoors.
